Fundraiser: support for undocumented families in Knox area – Covid19

AKIN is partnering with local immigrant rights and advocacy organizations to raise funds to help support undocumented and marginally documented immigrants in the Knoxville community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic will intensify the vulnerability of undocumented people in our community. Many will lose their jobs, face a health crisis, and have difficulty paying for basic needs. Even as undocumented and marginally documented people contribute immeasurably to our community, state and federal policies prohibit them from accessing the social safety net. Undocumented people can’t receive unemployment benefits and many other state and federal resources, including the federal government’s stimulus package. Many do not have healthcare. 

Please help us help our community by donating and sharing this fundraiser with your networks. We know that the funds we raise will likely be inadequate to meet the need. Still, we hope that small gifts of direct aid will provide some concrete help and demonstrate social solidarity in this time of physical distancing.
