Join us on Tuesday, May 19 from 7-8:30 pm for a sidewalk march, rally, and vigil to support #DAPA and #DACA.

The Comité Popular de Knoxville invites you to join immigrant community organizations around the state and around the country to send a clear message:

We must implement DAPA and the DACA expansion!

These programs will allow immigrant families to stay united and they will help our economy grow.

From Gay St (and Depot) walking on the sidewalks up to Cumberland and back around on Walnut and Union to the Market Square Extension.

At 7 pm, we will gather at the Regas Restaurant building, corner of Depot Ave. and Gay St.

At 7:30 pm, we will walk up the sidewalks along Gay Street to Cumberland, take a right on Cumberland, then a right on Walnut, and then a right on Union.

At approximately, 8 pm, we will hold a rally and vigil at the Market Square Extension on Union.

Parking is not allowed in the Regas Restaurant parking area.  You can park in a lot near Magnolia between Williams and Central or in any of the lots up near Market Square.

The Comité is creating posters, but please feel free to create and bring other posters.  Here are some ideas for messaging:

  • DAPA and DACA Now!
  • No more delays for DAPA and DACA!
  • Keep Families United!
  • Let us welcome our immigrant brothers and sisters!
  • End the  injunction against DAPA and DACA!

We want the Tennessee State Attorney General to withdraw Tennessee’s support of the lawsuit and the court injunction.

The Alliance for Citizenship has posted information about other events taking place around the country on this national day of action.

The Knoxville march is being coordinated with events organized by other groups around the state through the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition.
